カナダモントリオール・コンコーディア大学にて『第二言語としての英語教授法・教師免許 Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)』を取得。
I came to Japan from Canada in 1996. For 9 years I taught at Nova before starting my own school, Maple Mountain English, in 2005.
My degree is in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from Concordia University in Montreal.
For the past 12 years I have taught at my studio in Matsudo and at several offices and groups throughout the Tokyo / Kashiwa area including these companies: KDDI, Gilt, Royal Greenland, Hoei, Farm Frites, Toshiba, and Reitaku University.
My specialty is keeping things light and lively plus ‘warm-ups’ that include natural conversation and practice with native “rhythm, intonation, and pronunciation”. (In my experience rhythm is the biggest problem for Japanese speakers of English).
We use texts which focus on the student’s level, interests, and abilities: ‘Market Leader’ (5 levels – for Business English); ‘Life Topics’ (3 levels) and ‘Survival English’ for vocabulary and natural expressions plus listening.
